🚨 FALL ALERT: Mice & Overwintering Insects Targeting Saint Peter Homes

Each fall across Nicollet County, mice seek out the warmth of homes as temperatures drop, while boxelder bugs and Asian lady beetles mass on sun-warmed exterior walls by the thousands. Cluster flies also enter wall voids and attics to overwinter. Act before they're inside — treatments are most effective applied to the exterior before entry occurs.

• Mice: The single most common pest call we receive from Saint Peter homeowners; mice move from surrounding fields and woodlots into homes and garages each fall as temperatures drop. Properties on the edge of town adjacent to farmland are at especially high risk
• Boxelder bugs and multicolored Asian lady beetles: Among the most visible and frustrating fall pests in Nicollet County; both species mass on south- and west-facing home exteriors in the thousands each September and October, squeezing into wall voids and attics through the smallest gaps
• Cluster flies: A very common overwintering pest in Saint Peter's older homes; they congregate in attics and wall voids in fall and emerge in large, sluggish groups on warm winter and spring days, typically on south-facing walls and near windows
• Wasps and yellow jackets: Ground-nesting yellow jackets are especially prevalent in Nicollet County and pose a real hazard in yards, near driveways, and under decks; paper wasps and bald-faced hornets frequently nest in eaves, overhangs, and outbuildings throughout Saint Peter
